Are Pedestrian Accidents on the Rise in Tennessee?

Nashville has seen an unusually high rate of pedestrian accidents so far this year. A record-setting 19 pedestrians have been killed in the city so far, with two months remaining. What is causing this increase in accidents and what can we do to combat it? Nashville’s growing populace and popularity are leading to an increase in traffic on both streets and sidewalks. This means there is a higher chance of car-versus-pedestrian accidents, which are often catastrophic or fatal. Nashville Jury Weighs in On Truck Accident Involving Meth

The trial of truck driver Benjamin Brewer will come to a close soon. Brewer’s trial has been pushed back several times, most recently from October 17 to January 22nd. A jury will be selected from Nashville on January 18th. Brewer is charged with six counts of vehicular homicide for a crash on I-75 in 2015 that killed six people and injured four more. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the accident happened when Brewer failed to slow for traffic. He smashed into the backs of several vehicles, causing a chain-reaction crash. Reportedly, Brewer had methamphetamine and amphetamine in his system at the time of the crash. The investigation of the crash also revealed that he did not take required rest breaks and was likely fatigued. Witnesses Describe Fatal Rollover Accident in Downtown Nashville

Witnesses and victims of a four-car accident in downtown Nashville described a scene of utter chaos. The accident occurred on October 11 around 4 p.m., when a van struck a NashVegas cab from behind. The van then rolled, striking two more cars before coming to a rest on its side. The driver and passenger of one of the other vehicles, not seriously injured, ran toward the van’s driver, but were unable to assist him. He died at the scene.
