Child Killed in Smyrna Truck Accident

Sadly, on April 21, a 10-year-old boy was killed in a Smryna truck accident. According to the Daily News Journal, the crash occurred on Old Nashville Highway at Rocky Fork Road. Reports indicate that two vehicles, a Ford Explorer and a Chevy S-10, were involved in the accident, with the Explorer rolling over and ending upside down in the roadway. All four occupants of the SUV—which included an adult male, an adult female, a 10-year-old male and a 12-year-old male—were transported to the StoneCrest Medical Center for treatment. The 10-year-old later died at the hospital. The driver of the truck was not injured. The accident remains under investigation and it is unclear what caused the crash. Injured or Lost a Loved One to a Drunk Driver? One Dead, One Injured Following Smyrna Crash

According to WKRN-TV, a Murfreesboro woman was killed on June 15 when she was ejected from her vehicle following a rollover accident on Interstate 24 in Rutherford County. The station reported that the crash occurred around 3:30 a.m., near the Almaville Road exit in Smyrna. According to reports, a Chevy Tahoe was traveling west when it left the roadway and hit a median. The driver overcorrected back onto the interstate, causing the SUV to overturn multiple times, landing right side up, according to WKRN. Investigators told the station that Kathleen Davenport, 26, a passenger in the SUV, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene of the accident. Rutherford County Schools Bus Driver Arrested in Connection to DUI Hit-and-Run

According to WTVF-TV, a bus driver for Rutherford County Schools was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in connection to a hit-and-run crash involving his own personal vehicle in Murfreesboro. The station reported that 53-year-old Jeffrey Layne was arrested on March 28 after an alleged hit-and-run collision in Murfreesboro. He is a driver with Rutherford County Schools and reportedly drives a bus for Stewartsboro Elementary in Smyrna. The accident did not involve a school vehicle. Details of the crash are unknown, according to WTVF. An investigation by both the sheriff’s office and the school department is ongoing. Layne was reportedly arrested after completing a route for the school district, and later charged with DUI.
