According to Reuters, Toyota Motor Corp announced last month that it would recall 6.39 million vehicles globally after uncovering five different faults involving parts ranging from steering to seats.
The manufacturer said that it is not aware of any crashes or injuries caused by the defects, which were found in 27 Toyota models, including 2009-10 Corollas, 2009-10 Matrixs, 2008-10 Highlanders, 2009-10 Tacomas, 2006-8 RAV4s and 2006-10 Yaris vehicles.
Toyota said the recall involves an “electrical connection with a spiral cable assembly that could become damaged when the steering wheel is turned.” This issue could illuminate an air bag warning light and could disable the driver’s air bag.
It should be noted that on average, Toyota recalls more than five million vehicles annually in the United States, more than any other automaker.
