Geoffriau Powell, a cab driver for Allied Cab Company, stopped at a Murfreesboro gas station to fill up on his way to work. It was the last thing he did. As he waited to exit the gas station parking lot, an alleged drunk driver crashed into his driver’s side door, killing Powell.

Police charged Evan Childress with driving under the influence (his third DUI), vehicular homicide and driving with a restricted license.

WHO WAS DRIVING?

Since the accident, new details have emerged about Childress’s involvement in the fatal car accident. Childress claims that he was not driving the vehicle when the accident occurred. Instead, he claims that his drug dealer “Andrew” was driving the Toyota Camry, which is registered to Childress’s father.

Witnesses tell a different story. They claim that Childress was alone and that he tried to exit the car from the driver’s side.

Whoever was driving caused irreparable emotional damage to a Tennessee family. According to Powell’s obituary, he leaves behind his wife, two sons and five daughters. All eight of these people have to deal with the devastating loss because one man made a serious mistake. If you lost a loved one because of someone’s negligent driving, please contact us.
