WTVF-TV reported that one person was killed and another was injured in a three-vehicle accident in Moore County on July 3 between Tullahoma and Shelbyville.
The news station reported that the vehicle accident occurred in the morning on U.S. Highway 41. The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) said that 26-year-old Davy T. Wall, of Tullahoma, was traveling north on Highway 41 when his car veered across the turning lane and into the southbound lane of traffic.
According to the THP, Wall then reportedly attempted to correct and veered back into the north lane of traffic. Subsequently, another vehicle, driven by 48-year-old Velencia Whittaker, of Shelbyville, tried to avoid the crash, but collided with Wall’s car in the turn lane.
After the initial crash, another vehicle, driven by 23-year-old Andrew Clanton, of Shelbyville, was also unable to avoid the wreck and crashed into one of the two vehicles, according to WTVF.
The network reported that Wall died at the scene, and that Whittaker was airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital Medical Center, where her condition was not updated to the media. Clanton reportedly escaped the accident without injuries.
An investigation into the chain reaction crash is ongoing.
