According to the Cherokee Tribune, a Georgia woman was killed in a car accident on September 23 in La Vergne.
Anne Marie Hudson, 77, died after the driveshaft of a pickup truck fell off and burst through the windshield of her car on Interstate 24, just south of Nashville. Sgt. Bill Miller, a spokesman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol, said that police are still investigating the accident, which he described as “unfortunate”.
“At this present time, it doesn’t appear there will be criminal charges, due to this being mechanical and not malicious and not intentional,” Miller said, according to the Cherokee Tribune. Police have cited the driver of the truck for causing the accident.
The car part reportedly fell off a 2008 Dodge Ram, at about 10:30 a.m., and went flying into the windshield of a Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Hudson’s husband 77-year-old LeRoy Hudson. The auto park struck Anne as she was sitting in the passenger seat.
“This was an unfortunate accident and there was nothing any driver could have done,” Dalya Qualls of the Tennessee Department of Safety said. Hudson is survived by three sons, two daughters, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. We will pray for Hudson’s family members.
