According to the Tennessee Department of Safety, traffic accident related deaths have increased nearly 10% since 2011. Police reports recommend that practicing a degree of caution while driving, as well as wearing a seat belt, are two steps towards making our Tennessee highways safer for all drivers.

In February alone, numerous accounts of fatal car accidents involving passengers not wearing their seat belts have been reported all around Tennessee. On February 1, 2013, a Bethel Springs woman not wearing her seat belt died after a side collision at a stop sign. On February 5, 2013, a fatal car accident left one 17-year-old boy dead and another severely injured. Both were not wearing seat belts. On February 8, 2013, the story is familiar – three young men in Haywood County lost their lives in a roadway departure crash and none were wearing their seat belts.

One of the most reported injuries sustained during a high-speed impact car accident without wearing a seat belt is being thrown from the vehicle through the windshield. Tennessee Troopers often state that fatal car accidents involving this type of injury could have been avoided by simply buckling up.

Driving safely should be the number one priority for everyone when putting a key into an ignition.

If you or someone you love has been injured in a car accident, please do not hesitate to speak with our Nashville car accident attorney Stan Davis for a free consultation.
