Stryker Recall: Defective Hip Implant Cases Settled for $1.4 Billion

Unfortunately, thousands of Americans have suffered through painful surgeries and inflections due to defective hip implants. Blister pack of pills. Remedy.

Recently, Stryker Corp. agreed to settle thousands of lawsuits brought by people who needed surgeries to revise hip implant problems for a reported $1.4 billion. The lawsuits stemmed from defects in the company’s Rejuvenate Modular-Neck hip stem and/or ABG II Modular-Neck hip stem.

The implants were recalled in July 2012.

Some people complained of extreme pain because of implant corrosion. Additionally, there were reportedly cases of metal infections.

The AP reported that some people could receive as much as $500,000 because of the settlement. The company announced that it expects to make the majority of payments to victims by the end of 2015.
