About 100 residents were evacuated from a Portland nursing home recently due to a fire. According to Scripps Media, the fire occurred at The Bridge at Highland nursing home, on Highland Circle Drive, on July 30. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, as rescue workers were able to help escort residents and employees out of the facility quickly. An initial investigation revealed that an air-conditioning unit on the roof of the facility malfunctioned, causing the fire. Are Nursing Homes Safe from Fires? We discussed this subject because the Associated Press reported that thousands of nursing homes across the country did not have adequate sprinklers or fire prevention measures in place.
