According to USA Today, Kia is recalling more than 377,000 of its Sorento crossover SUVs due to problems with their transmission shifters. The news outlet reported that the vehicle transmission shifters could allegedly shift out of the “park” position on their own, causing dangers to people who are driving. The recall involves 2011 to 2013 model Sorentos, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The agency says that if excessive force is applied to the shifters, a brake-shift mechanism may crack, and if that happens, the transmission can shift out of the park position without a vehicle’s brakes being applied. Kia said it would notify vehicle owners if their models need to be brought to dealerships for repair.
