Mother Sues Metro Government Over EMS Delay

According to WSMV-TV, a Nashville woman is suing the Metro government after she said that it delayed in assisting her son who shot himself and later died. The station reported that lawsuit stems from an August 2014 incident in which a 32-year-old man shot himself in his Hermitage apartment. According to the lawsuit, after the incident took place, first responders who encountered the man’s body left the apartment, thinking that he would not survive. The mother of the victim claims that he was alive and breathing when the paramedics left. She said that after police showed up to the scene of the incident, the medics eventually returned to treat the man. This caused a delay in medical treatment of approximately 90 minutes, according to the lawsuit.
