Nashville Resident is Asking the City to Add More Sidewalks

Currently, Nashville has approximately 1,070 miles of sidewalks within the city. However, a Nashville resident has started a movement that tells officials the city needs more. A three-year study showed that almost 1,000 pedestrians were hit by cars in Nashville. The city ranks as one of the most dangerous cities for pedestrians in the nation. Woman Killed In Lebanon Pedestrian Accident

According to WTVF-TV, a woman was killed in a Lebanon pedestrian accident on November 14. Lebanon Police told WTVF that the body of 59-year-old Cindy Ballington was found in the roadway on Carthage Highway around 8 p.m., after a vehicle struck her. WTVF reported that the driver of a vehicle that fled the scene of the crash, 33-year-old Pamela Delay, left the accident, telling authorities that she thought she struck a mailbox. When she went home following the accident, Delay allegedly called the police to let them know about the crash, which she still did not think involved another person. Police went to the scene of the crash and discovered the body of Ballington, who they believe walked into the roadway. An investigation into the crash is pending, although police told WTVF last week that charges are not expected to be filed against Delay. I Have Been Injured in a…

Experts Say People on Mobility Scooters in Danger on Tennessee Roads

According to a report in The Tennessean, mobility scooters present a hazard for those who cannot drive or ride a bicycle on Tennessee roads. Three deaths have occurred in middle Tennessee since July due to disabled people riding scooters on the roads during dark hours. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does not regulate mobility scooters and no government data exists to keep track of the causes of scooter collisions or even the amount of crashes that occur. The government does not even refer to them with one term; often these scooter accidents are recorded as pedestrian, wheelchair or mobility scooter accidents. Dr. Myron Laban, a rehabilitation physician and professor at Oakland University in Detroit claimed that as the population ages faster, a solution to scooters on roads needs to be found. Laban began researching mobility scooter accidents and found that out of 107 accidents he researched, about half occurred…
