Can Concert Organizers Be Held Liable for a Fatal Accident?

Tragically, on May 23, a Scott County man allegedly drove his car through a concert crowd at the Trail Ends campgrounds, killing a man in attendance. According to WATE-TV, the incident allegedly occurred when the suspect, 42, a food vendor at the event, became upset and drove his vehicle through a field where about 50 people remained following a Trace Adkins performance. The television station reported that the incident killed one man, 52, from North Vernon, Indiana. The man who allegedly crashed his vehicle was charged with criminal homicide and reckless endangerment, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office. Witnesses told WATE that the man was intentionally trying to hit people; he allegedly dragged at least one victim through a crowd, and the man died was attempting to help the person being dragged when he was struck.
