Tempe Uber Crash: How Does the Law Protect People Injured by Self-Driving Cars?

In March, one of Uber’s self-driving vehicles was struck by another vehicle in Arizona. The company suspended its entire autonomous car program to investigate what went wrong. As is typical in car accidents involving self-driving vehicles, it was not the computer that was at fault. A human driver making a left turn failed to yield to the Uber, which flipped on its side after the two collided. Self-driving vehicles force us to ask new questions about liability in injury cases. Driving for Uber or Lyft? Know the Insurance Regulations in Tennessee

New Laws Protect Nashville Drivers and Passengers As ride sharing has soared in popularity throughout the United States and world, the top two companies, Uber and Lyft, have faced state and local regulations in an effort to maintain safety for both drivers and passengers. In Tennessee, the legislature has passed additional insurance regulations on the popular ride sharing apps that went into effect January 1 of 2016. What Do the TN Uber and Lyft Insurance Regulations Require? If the driver is on the app but has no customers in the car, the driver is required to carry $50,000 in bodily injury coverage per individual, $100,000 bodily injury per accident and $25,000 per property damage.
