Employers should be held liable whenever a fatal accident occurs on their premises. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2012, 100 people were killed in workplace accidents in Tennessee.

Causes of workplace accidents included violence, fires and explosions, transportation mishaps and slip and falls. Many of these issues are the result of negligence on behalf of employers, as they have a duty to make sure employee safety is a top priority.

Sadly, in addition to death, many people sustain catastrophic injuries like paralysis, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and severe burns in workplace accidents.

Unfortunately, a FedEx employee died on July 2 after suffering an injury at the Memphis World Hub. According to WAFF-TV, 19-year-old Chandler Warren died in some type of mishap at the facility.

It remains unclear what happened in the FedEx accident, as details have not been released to the media. The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the case, but it could be six months before its findings are made public.

Warren worked two jobs and was a student at Southwest Community College, according to WAFF.
