Authorities believe that recent rain and crowed holiday roadways may be two contributing factors in the case of the March 29 fatal car accident discussed in this WZTV-TV video. Michael Mahan was traveling westbound on Interstate 24 near the Tennessee/Kentucky state line with his two daughters when his vehicle ran over the dividing median and swerved into oncoming traffic. Mahan’s car violently collided with an eastbound U-Haul driven by Richard Dooley, as well as a vehicle traveling behind the truck that contained Dooley’s wife and two young children.

Mahan’s daughters, Savannah and Meagan, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the car crash. Sadly, WZTV reported that first responders pronounced Meagan, 11, dead after arriving on the scene. Her father and 16-year-old sister were quickly transported to nearby Gateway Medical Center, but they both died a short time later from the severity of their injuries.

The wife of the U-Haul driver, 43-year old Lisa Larimer, and the couple’s two daughters also sustained serious injuries in the car accident. The hospital said Larimer was in stable condition. However, 7-year-old Ariel and her younger sister Sierra are listed in stable, but critical conditions.
