1.3 Million Bicycles from Over a Dozen Brands Recalled
|

According to reports, nearly 1.3 million bicycles in the United States are being recalled for a defect that could cause riders to get into accidents.

KMSP-TV reports that the recall extends to 17 different bike brands from 13 companies, with price ranges from $200 to $10,000. The bicycles reportedly have quick lever releases on their front wheels, which can encounter disc brake rotors, causing a wheel to suddenly stop or separate from the bike.

One man who was injured on a recalled bicycle reportedly broke his finger and suffered wrist and shoulder injuries because of a crash. Two other crashes have also been reported because of the defect. A list of recalled vehicles is available on the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website.

Bicycle manufacturers and brands involved in the recall include:

  • Accell North America (Raleigh, Diamondback)
  • Advanced Sports International (Breezer, Fuji, SE)
  • Cycling Sports Group (Cannondale, GT)
  • Felt Racing LLC (Felt)
  • Joanou Cycle Co. (Jamis)
  • Giant Bicycle
  • Haro Bikes
  • LTP Sports Group (Norco)
  • Performance Bicycle (Access)
  • Quality Bicycle Products (Civia Cycles)
  • Recreational Equipment Inc. (Novara)
  • Ridley Bikes
  • Specialized Bicycle Components

HOLDING A MANUFACTURER LIABLE FOR A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT

This is the second large-scale bicycle recall to occur this year. This spring, we wrote about a Trek recall involving nearly 1 million bicycles, which allegedly have similar defects as the bikes recently recalled.

Unfortunately, bicycle accidents can result in serious personal injuries for victims including spinal cord injuries, head injuries and broken bones. If you have been injured because of this recall or if another defective product has harmed you, talk to our Nashville injury attorney about your legal rights.

Manufacturers have a duty to make sure that they produce products that do not put the public at risk for injuries or accidents. If a company fails to perform its duty, it can be held liable. Our Nashville injury lawyer represents victims from all over Tennessee. Talk to him about your case.
