Police officials in Clarksville, Tennessee are investigating an eight-car pileup that injured 12 people. Officer Jim Knoll referred to the accident as a “crashfest.”

Knoll released a press release saying that Peggy Smith, 51, was “all over the roadway”, running red lights, swerving and hitting multiple cars that were stopped at a red light. He described the “pool ball like effect” as Smith’s 2001 Dodge Intrepid crashed into several cars that then crashed into other vehicles. Three people required hospital treatment, and others received treatment at the scene. Four vehicles required towing assistance.

Police are currently investigating the accident to determine if Smith was under the influence when she caused the series of car crashes.

These car crashes show how one driver’s negligence can disrupt dozens of lives. We are thankful that there were no deaths or critical injuries reported in this story.
