According to the Associated Press, an assistant women’s soccer coach at Cumberland University was killed in a truck accident on Interstate 24 in Nashville on June 16. The AP reports that 28-year-old Eric Susewind died at the scene of the accident around 2:30 a.m.
Police said that Susewind was heading westbound on I-24 when he struck the back of a truck. After the initial crash, Susewind’s vehicle came to rest sideways in traffic, when he was struck by an oncoming tractor-trailer.
According to the AP, the driver of the pickup, 20-year-old Juan Garcia, received minor injuries, while the driver of the tractor-trailer, 58-year-old Greg Sears, was not injured. Police told the AP that a “preliminary investigation reveals a disabled vehicle in the roadway may have been a factor in the accident.”
