According to WTVF-TV, a worker at the Nissan plant in Smyrna was killed in an accident on June 16. The station reports that 43-year-old Michael Hooper died in the accident that happened at 1:30 a.m.

Hooper was maintenance technician, and worked for the company for 21 years, according to Nissan. Nissan has not released details about the accident. “Emergency response authorities are on-site and working to confirm details of the incident, which occurred in the body assembly area of the plant,” Nissan said in a press release.

“The safety and well-being of our team members is Nissan’s top priority. The company is working with authorities to investigate [this] incident and is doing everything possible to support those affected in the aftermath of this devastating event,” the release read.

This is not the first fatality at the plant this year. According to WTVF, “on April 25, a contract worker was killed at the plant’s paint facility when a large electrical panel fell as it was being moved.”

Tennessee requires two elements to be established in any wrongful death case: that a human being’s death was brought about because of the willful or negligent disregard of someone else and that the loss of love, care, guidance, supervision, comfort, household assistance and general social structure were established before the person’s death.

Because no amount of money can ever replace the loss of a loved one, the Law Office of Stanley A. Davis takes wrongful death claims very seriously. If you have had a loved one killed in a workplace accident, it is helpful to have someone fighting alongside you.
