A truck driver in La Vergne was lucky to escape with his life following a truck accident on May 3. Ames Larrysharn, a 33-year-old truck driver for Boyd Trucking, was arrested for leaving the scene of the accident. Larrysharn’s truck hit a storm culvert which ruptured the fuel tank. He stopped to remove the cover that caused the rupture and then fled the scene.

Police discovered the spill shortly after 2 a.m., after responding to a call nearby. Authorities noticed the strong odor of gasoline in the area and saw a large amount of fuel that had pooled in a field and a large amount of fuel in the roadway. Emergency services then tracked the spill to a nearby TA truck facility. Luckily, fire crews were able to neutralize the spill in the road before a more serious incident occurred. However, authorities are still waiting for officials from the trucking company to clean the spill in the field. Fire personnel are warning people to be careful when driving on the affected area, because the sheen of diesel on the road could create hazardous road conditions.

This accident had the potential to be very dangerous. The negligence of the truck driver could have cost a driver his or her life. Unfortunately, there have been instances when the negligence of a truck driver has led to a fatal truck accident. If you or someone you know has been  injured in a semi-truck accident, then call our Nashville truck accident attorney today at (615) 866-3938. Let us counsel you through this difficult time.
