Whenever a multi-vehicle accident occurs, it should be thoroughly investigated. Interestingly, some people incorrectly believe that in crashes involving three or more vehicles, the fault always belongs to the driver in the rear. However, this is not always the case.

Through an independent investigation, our Nashville injury attorney can determine if your multi-car accident was the result of any one of the driver’s involved partaking in dangerous activities like texting while driving, drunk driving, defective auto parts, speeding and/or tailgating—all common causes of crashes.

Remember, it is possible that an investigation could determine that multiple people were at fault for a multi-vehicle accident.

Sadly, on September 29, a 23-year-old woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 24 in La Vergne. According to WKRN-TV, the crash occurred near the Old Hickory Boulevard and Waldron Road exits at around 4:20 p.m.

The network reported that Dimitra Byrd’s vehicle stalled in traffic and a tractor-trailer struck it from behind. Following the initial crash, a motorcycle driven by 25-year-old Benjamin Menes swerved to avoid debris in the roadway, causing him to be tossed to the ground.

Byrd was killed in the crash and a passenger in her vehicle, Karie McAllister, 22, of Murfreesboro, was critically injured and transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville for treatment.

Menes also suffered injuries and was treated at Vanderbilt Medical Center. The truck driver was unhurt. The accident remains under investigation.
