Rutherford County Schools Bus Driver Arrested in Connection to DUI Hit-and-Run

According to WTVF-TV, a bus driver for Rutherford County Schools was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in connection to a hit-and-run crash involving his own personal vehicle in Murfreesboro. Sobriety Test - Skeptical

The station reported that 53-year-old Jeffrey Layne was arrested on March 28 after an alleged hit-and-run collision in Murfreesboro. He is a driver with Rutherford County Schools and reportedly drives a bus for Stewartsboro Elementary in Smyrna. The accident did not involve a school vehicle.

Details of the crash are unknown, according to WTVF. An investigation by both the sheriff’s office and the school department is ongoing.

Layne was reportedly arrested after completing a route for the school district, and later charged with DUI. The district said Layne was cleared to begin driving buses in 2013 and has no incidents on his driving record.
