According to WKRN-TV, a Nashville boat accident on September 1 on Percy Priest Lake resulted in the death of a man and numerous injuries.

WKRN reported that a deck boat and a 36-foot cabin boat collided in the lake. Officials with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said that they were able to locate the body of Harvie Butler, 39, of La Vergne, following the crash.

Four people other people were taken to Vanderbilt University Hospital with injured following the crash. Three other people were allegedly treated for minor injuries at the scene of the crash.

Butler was reportedly not wearing a life jacket at the time of the crash. An investigation into the crash is ongoing—officials with the TWRA said that the agency has impounded both boats and taken blood samples from each boat operator to determine if alcohol played a role in the crash.

According to the TWRA, 18 people died in boating accidents in Tennessee in 2012. Drowning is the leading cause of death in boat accidents. Aside from death, boating accidents can result in traumatic brain injuries, amputations and spinal cord injuries.
