According to WTVF-TV, a woman was killed in a motorcycle accident on April 12 in Madison.

The Metro Nashville Police Department told the station that 52-year-old Carolyn Lumley was killed in a crash involving a motorcycle and three other vehicles. The crash reportedly occurred at around 9 p.m., on Old Hickory Boulevard.

Police said that Lumley was a passenger on the motorcycle, driven by her husband Thomas. The couple was pulling out of their private drive when their motorcycle was struck by an Oldsmobile heading east on Old Hickory Boulevard.

After the crash with the motorcycle, two other vehicles struck the Oldsmobile from behind.

Thomas and Carolyn, along with the driver of the Oldsmobile, were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where Carolyn was pronounced dead. Thomas and the driver reportedly suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I AM INJURED IN A NASHVILLE MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT?

Over the last couple of years, motorcycle accidents in Tennessee have been on the rise. From 2004 to 2008, crashes rose by an average of 9.2 percent each year. Because motorcycles offer less protection than other vehicles on the roadway, crashes can result in spinal cord injuriestraumatic brain injuries (TBIs) or wrongful death.

If your family member dies in a vehicle accident stemming from negligence, you should seek the recovery of damages, which can include compensation for the lost income from the deceased family member, medical expenses and funeral costs.

If you are injured or you have lost a loved one in a motorcycle accident, you may be entitled to compensation. Our attorney fights for those who have been injured or killed because of negligence. Contact our Tennessee law firm to schedule a free initial consultation by calling (615) 845-6141.
