A multiple-car accident along Interstate 40 in Putnam County shut down the highway for several hours on January 25, according to WTVF-TV.

The station reported that the collisions were reported just after 11 a.m., near mile marker 301. A portion of I-40 east was closed because of the crashes. The cause of the crashes is unknown, but according to WTVF, a tractor-trailer jackknifed near mile marker 299, causing buildup on the interstate, possibly leading cars to crash into each other.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) said that there were no fatal injuries in the crashes, although word on the total number of cars or injured people was unknown. The crashes remain under investigation.
