Police said that the students’ truck crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer. They were reportedly on their way back from watching NCAA basketball tournament games when the crash occurred.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing. “We want to extend our heartfelt sympathy to parents, relatives, classmates and staff members of our four students tragically involved in last night’s accident,” Christian County High School principal Michael Stevenson said in a statement. “We were saddened to receive the news that two of our students have passed.”

Two other students were also injured in the crash—as of last week, their condition was unknown.
