WTVF-TV reported that three people were injured in a truck accident on southbound Interstate 65 on March 11, along the Sumner/Robertson County line.

According to WTVF, the crash occurred at around 2 p.m., on the southbound lane, near mile marker 103, just past the Bethel Road ramp.

Investigators said that a tractor-trailer lost its load and troopers from the Tennessee Highway Patrol were performing a commercial vehicle inspection on the truck at the time of the accident. During the inspection, a Ford F-350 towing a trailer driven by 31-year-old Steven Stryker rear-ended a Toyota Corolla driven by 41-year-old Scottie Bratten.

The F-350 continued to travel and struck a Chevrolet pickup driven by James Barlar, which was then pushed into the back of a semi-truck hauling double trailers, driven by 63-year-old John Heilers from Columbia, Kentucky.

After this series of accidents, the Ford F-350 also struck the semi, passed it and spun out of control before striking another semi driven by 34-year-old James Stanley from Milledgeville, Georgia.

According to authorities, Bratten was transported to an area hospital by Lifeflight medical helicopter. LifeFlight also transported Jason Anderson, a passenger in the Corolla, to the hospital for treatment. As of last week, both were listed in critical condition at an area hospital.

WTVF reported that Barlar, from Ashland City, was transported by ground to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing and charges are pending.
