Sierra Nevada, a California beer brewery known for their pale ales and IPAs, has issued a recall of some of its most popular beer brands due to dangers lurking within the glass bottles. According to Sierra Nevada, upon inspection of their Mills River, North Carolina brewery, a defect in some batches of their bottles that could lead to glass breaking and falling inside the bottles. The potential for cuts and lacerations related to swallowing this glass led to the recall.

Anyone who has purchased any of the following eight brands is eligible for a refund from the company:

  1. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
  2. Beer Camp Golden IPA
  3. Sidecar Orange Pale Ale
  4. Torpedo Extra IPA
  5. Tropical Torpedo
  6. Nooner
  7. Hop Hunter
  8. Otra Vez

DOES THE RECALL AFFECT MY SIERRA NEVADA BEER?

Fortunately, the scope of the problem is not very large, affecting roughly one in 10,000 bottles of the above brews across 36 states (including Tennessee). Check your products to see if you bought it between December 5, 2016 and January 8, 2017. If so, you may have the defective bottles. No injuries have yet been reported.

All too often, defects in products that cause injuries are not discovered until long after they have caused significant harm. In some cases, defects in products are actually covered up by companies to avoid liability (as we’ve seen recently with the Takata air bag recall, when Takata Corp. plead guilty for covering up their knowledge of defective air bag inflators), so it is refreshing to see a company jumping in front of the problem before it had a chance to get out of hand.

Romans 15:5, “May God, who gives us patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus.”
