A tractor-trailer in Jackson, Tennessee on Highway 45 North tipped over spilling out its cargo of scrap metal on May 28. Officials said one of the truck’s tires blew out causing the load to shift and tip the trailer over. Fire crews said very little fuel or oil had leaked from the truck. Luckily, no one was next to the trailer when it tipped over, and the truck driver was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
Often times improperly loading a truck will cause it to be more at risk of tipping over or jackknifing. Unevenly distributed materials or instances where too much weight is added will cause these types of accidents. Other causes for tipping accidents to occur are poor maintenance of the truck or trailer.
