Did you know that rollover accidents are responsible for almost half of all fatal single-vehicle crashes?
We have a page dedicated solely to SUV rollover accidents, which you can read by clicking here. Sadly, aside from death, these accidents can result in devastating personal injuries like traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries, which can permanently change the lives of victims.
Rollover accidents can occur for a number of reasons, including:
- Driver overcorrection
- Objects in the road
- Vehicles being too top-heavy (weight that is further away from the frame)
- Defective auto parts
- Defective vehicle designs
- Aggressive and reckless driving
- Distracted driving
- Drunk driving
Remember, if you are ever involved in a rollover accident, it may be a good idea to speak to an attorney. He or she may be able to determine why your accident occurred and whether it was a result of driver negligence or manufacturer defects.
Two People Die in Hermitage Rollover Accident
We bring up rollover accidents because recently two people were killed and a third person was critically injured in a three-vehicle rollover accident on Interstate 40 in Hermitage.
According to Reuters, the accident occurred on March 25 when a van and Dodge Neon collided. A third vehicle, attempting to avoid the initial accident, was also involved in a wreck. An initial investigation showed that one the Neon was pulled over when the van struck it. The van overturned.
Killed in the accident were 26-year-old Ulrique Severe, of Brooklyn, NY, and 22-year-old Briston Irby-Reynolds, of Pennsylvania. A third passenger in the Neon was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The Neon may not have been on the shoulder of the interstate when the accident took place. The incident remains under investigation.
