Nashville Meats Recalled for E. Coli Poisoning

Have you purchased any halal ground beef from the Baraka Bakery and Grocery store in Nashville? If you have, you need to check the packaging. Products processed and packaged between April 19 and April 26 of this year could be contaminated with E. coli. E. coli is a potentially deadly bacterium. Ingesting it can lead to dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps lasting two to eight days. Generally, people recover within a week. However, some develop what is known as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). HUS is a condition that can lead to kidney failure, nervous system damage and even death. Killer Toys: Hoverboard Causes First Recorded Death

For the last few years, there have been several stories emerging about the dangers of battery-powered “hoverboards,” popular toys that children ride on like a budget Segway. Due to problems charging, the hoverboards have been known to catch fire, causing property damage and injury. Until recently, hoverboards were not responsible for any known fatal fires. This is no longer true. In Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a fire started at a home that would end in tragedy. A charging hoverboard erupted in flames which quickly spread throughout the home. In the end, a father and a teenage boy were treated for smoke inhalation, two girls suffered injuries that put them in critical condition, and a three-year-old girl died.
